The largest lake in Italy, Lake Garda is a place of stunning scenery, picturesque historic towns and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy.

2-ETERNAL ROME

A school trip to Italy wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Rome. Where else to learn about the Roman Empire and how they shaped Europe but in Rome itself?

Rome was a city that would grow and thrive forever, hence its nickname ‘the Eternal City’ and the legacy of its far reaching Empire is indeed too great to fully grasp from textbooks.

Eventually the Empire did fall but left us with a city that is an open air museum, bringing history lessons vividly to life.

At the Colosseum for instance we can appreciate the magnitude of crowds that used to gather here to attend games and exhibitions. While at the Pantheon temple, we can admire the brilliance of architects and builders nearly 2000 years ago.

3-CLASSIC FLORENCE AND TUSCANY

As the birthplace of Renaissance, Florence and Tuscany are a wonderful destination for school tours focused on art and culture but also science and technology.

The cultural movement known as the Renaissance, or ‘rebirth’, marked an important transition period from the turbulent Middle Ages to the modern period of history.

While this cultural revolution started in the State of Florence it spread across Europe, from the 14th to the 16th centuries. It brought new ideas, scientific advancements and ways to see and understand the world, inspired by the Ancient Greeks and Romans.

4-ARCHAEOLOGY IN POMPEII

If Rome was the centre of the Empire, the city of Pompeii, buried in ash for centuries, gives students an extraordinary insight into the everyday life of an Ancient Roman city in the 1st century.

History and Archaeology students will be fascinated by the incredible archaeological park in Pompeii, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.

The city was buried after a volcanic eruption in the year 79 AD and buildings, artefacts and human remains stayed intact under the layer of ash for hundreds of years.
