Head of JWT Cruises, Caroline and daughter/colleague Kayleigh, had the pleasure of cruising onboard the extraordinary and luxurious brand new ship Sun Princes with Princess Cruises.
Sun Princess provided them with an incredible onboard experience that they are excited to share with us, from two different perspectives: Caroline’s expert eye and Kayleigh as a first time cruiser.

As a seasoned cruise expert, what do you think makes Sun Princess special?
It was special from the moment I first stepped onboard, you could feel the excitement from the staff, they were so proud to welcome us and their existing guests, also welcoming on some new to cruise guests. It was so nice to be the first guests to sail onboard Sun Princess.
How was the atmosphere onboard? Was it different from other cruises?
It was amazing onboard, for me Princess Cruises offer a very traditional style of cruising, one that is very unique to them, they don’t have any of the big water slides etc. They offer other special experiences like the movie under the stars and also some wonderful dining experiences and new onboard areas like Park19.
Can you describe unique experiences that passengers can enjoy on the Sun Princess?
New area onboard Sun Princess is Park19, a thrilling new family activity zone that’s situated on the top 3 decks of the Sun Princess, offering fun for all the family.
The Dome on Sun Princess is a perfect place to spend your time whether it be day or night. A multifunctional venue, in the day you can sit back and relax on one of the comfortable loungers, have a swim or enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many eateries that surround it.
At night, the space transforms to showcase a series of different live performances, including the likes of aerial hoop displays and dance shows! A fantastic venue to suit all of the family, whether you relax here or stay to watch a show in the evening, you’ll have a fabulous time.
Did you have a favourite dining experience on board?
Oh! On a few occasions but I have to say “Catch by Rudi” was so amazing, the whole dining experience I really enjoyed, and the food was exceptional. The menu will appeal to both seafood aficionados and guests who simply prefer some great “surf and turf.”
We were honoured to have met the famous chef himself who even sat with us and took a picture, plus the cocktails and wine selection were fantastic also.
Tell us more about the unique experiences exclusive to Sun Princess
Spellbound, a spectacular one-of-a-kind experience created in partnership with The Magic Castle™. This Victorian-themed bar features magicians performing mind-bending entertainment, themed rooms and theatrical cocktails served with sleight of hand, we unfortunately didn’t get to experience this onboard as it was not ready, but guests will be in for a special treat!
What did you like the most about the cabins?
We stayed in a Deluxe Balcony cabin and the first thing you notice is the décor and the colours are so bright and warming, plus the space in the cabin and nice spacious balcony. But as always, the beds onboard Princess Cruises are so comfortable, I didn’t want to get up some mornings!
How was the service from crew and staff?
One word for the service onboard: AMAZING. From the moment you step on the ship until your feet leave the ship you will experience nothing but an exceptional service from every member of staff, especially the cabin attendants they are so attentive, and nothing is ever a problem. I forgot my plug adapter and within a half hour they had one in my room.
Guest relations team will not let you leave until they have resolved as best they can any issues you maybe having onboard, waiting staff again excellent, overall, I have never had a bad experience onboard a Princess Cruises Ship.
What were your favourite activities onboard?
The Lotus Spa® onboard Sun Princess is a must when you get onboard and are lucky to get some time out for yourself. At the spa you’ll find a variety of indulgent features, including a salt room, an aromatic steam room, a hydro pool and the Enclave- a spacious thermal suite.
There’s also a beauty salon and a wide array of treatments to choose from. Lots more onboard to choose from but I will just have to come back to experience!
Lastly, considering your expertise, what would you say makes Sun Princess special for those considering a cruise holiday?
With so many incredible features onboard, from the amazing Dome and the culinary delights to the thrilling Park19, beautiful Pool area, Sun Princess is an extraordinary ship with so much to offer regardless of your age or taste.
KAYLEIGH | THE CRUISE NEWBIE
As a first-time cruise experience, did you have any standout moments during the cruise that made it special?
For me, my standout moments onboard would have to be the night we dined in the crown grill. Food was amazing , service was amazing!
The other standout moment was the night we watched a movie under the stars and I had the luxury of ordering drinks and snacks through the app.
What were your initial expectations for the cruise, and did the experience meet or exceed them?
I wasn’t too sure on cruising before I went on the Sun Princess, it was my first time, and it really exceeded my expectations! Everything from embarkation right throughout was perfect, I really cannot fault it, I want to go back.
Did you enjoy the atmosphere onboard? and what were your favourite activities onboard?
Yes, there is a great atmosphere on board, especially in the Irish bar.
The movie under the stars was my favourite activity for sure, I did have a look around the fitness centre, but I did not engage, the dancers in the piazza were great!
Did any destination leave a special lasting impression?
Kusadasi was my favourite , I shopped a lot and also we stopped in Chania, Greece, which was beautiful and had some great food!
