WHERE TO STAY

If you are travelling to the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in Monza for a weekend of thrilling races, the best option is to stay in Milan as you can easily travel to the track in Monza by train and shuttle bus, or taxi!

We usually recommend staying in Milan for its proximity to the circuit in Monza Park, only 16km (10 miles) away, as well as its good flight connections.

Staying in Milan city, the global capital of fashion and design in Italy,  allows you to enjoy its vibrant atmosphere, great restaurants and bars in the evenings; as well as explore its history,  beautiful districts, spectacular museums, and monumental churches!

WHAT TO DO IN MILAN

Milan combines the perfect balance between modernity and history. If you have time to explore this stylish city here are some suggestions of what not to miss in Milan:

DUOMO DI MILANO ( MILAN CATHEDRAL)

Milan’s impressive Cathedral is one of Europe’s greatest architectural and cultural landmarks of Gothic style. You can admire the Cathedral from the outside, however, we highly recommend joining one of their guided tours, if you have some free time.

Inside, you will be able to appreciate its vast collection of religious art, or marvel at the 3000 statues that line its Gothic exterior. You should not miss accessing to the roof terrace, known for its beautiful views of Milan city.

SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE

Another must-see in Milan is the Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses the masterpiece painting The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci.

VISIT SAN SIRO STADIUM

The football stadium of A.C. Milan and Internazionale is definitely a must-see for football fans.

THE GOLDEN QUADRANGLE

You can do some fashion shopping or check out some luxury brands at the Quadrilatero d’Oro or the golden quadrangle.

I NAVIGLI

Have some delicious food, great drinks or do some shopping at I Navigli, known for its two canals as well as artisan shops and designers who sell their work here!

BRERA

Another beautiful district to visit in Milan is Brera, home to colorful houses, artists studios and boutiques in a beautiful atmosphere worth experiencing. You can also enjoy a delicious lunch in one of their popular restaurants.

GETTING AROUND IN MILAN

If you are travelling with us, you will be staying 3 nights at the 4* Hotel Atlantic, in Milan. Once you arrive at Milan Airport, the easiest way to get to the hotel is to take public transport from the airport to Milan Central station, which is only 4-minute walk from the hotel.

Milan has an excellent public transport system, including a metro. You can buy tickets for the metro which cost only 1€ per trip or you can buy a ticket valid for one day for €3.50 or two days for €5. Tickets are also valid for trams and buses in the metro area (but not for the trains to the circuit).

GETTING FROM MILAN TO MONZA CIRCUIT

Getting to the track from Milan city centre is relatively easy. You can either take the train and the shuttle bus, or a taxi. If you are travelling with us here are a few options we recommend:

TRAIN AND SHUTTLE BUS:

You can take a train from Milano Centrale to Monza railway station. It only takes 20-30 min approximately, with a train every 15 minutes approx. for only €5 return tickets. Once you arrive at Monza railway station, there is a shuttle bus from Monza railway to the circuit, however it involves quite a bit of walking; 10-20 minutes from the shuttle drop-off points to the circuit entrances, in addition to 10-30 minutes to get to your seat.

Another option is to buy a €13 return ticket to travel from any station in Milan to Monza Station on race weekend that also includes a return ticket for the Black Shuttle. The Black Shuttle buses run on Friday (07:30-20:00), Saturday (07:00-20:00) and Sunday (06:30-20:00).

TRAIN AND TAXI:

Alternatively, you can take a train from Milan to Monza railway station and then a taxi to the circuit.

TAXI:

A taxi (or Uber) from central Milan should cost around €60-80 one way. Be aware that if you haven’t booked a return trip, it can be difficult at peak times to get a taxi from Monza back to Milan. You can always be ahead in time and book a taxi with the app FREE NOW.

Staying around the circuit or going for a drink nearby is a good idea to let the crowds thin out and be able to more easily order a taxi or Uber.
