EASY COASTAL CAMINO PORTUGUES ITINERARY
DAY 1 – BAIONA
Today you will make your way to Baiona, a lovely pretty seaside town by the bay of the same name. Explore the cobbled historic quarter and go for a stroll along the seafront promenade to the iconic Monterreal Castle-fortress, which is today a luxury Parador hotel. Take your swimming gear if the weather is warm and go for a swim in one of the beaches by the castle.
DAY 2 – WALKING FROM BAIONA TO NIGRAN – 10KMS
On your first walking day from Baiona to Nigran, the Coastal Camino Portugues route will take you along the seafront and beach promenades for most of the day, until you reach the town of Nigran, your stop for the night.
DAY 3 – WALKING FROM NIGRAN TO VIGO – 14KMS
From Nigran to Vigo, the Coastal Camino Portugues continues along coastal paths and trails for most of the day to Vigo’s famous Samil Beach. From Samil you will walk across the city suburbs to the city harbour.
Vigo city is one of Galicia’s biggest and an important port. Make sure you explore the old town and go for a stroll by the harbour. If you are taking a rest day, we recommend taking a ferry to the magnificent Cies Islands.
DAY 4 – WALKING FROM VIGO TO REDONDELA – 16KMS
Leaving Vigo city behind by the Senda da Auga, pilgrims on the Coastal Camino Portugues route will take in wonderful views of Vigo Bay and the city below. Today’s stage is relatively short and takes you to the town of Redondela, where the trail joins the classic Camino Portugues route and where you are likely to encounter more pilgrims than any of the stages before.
DAY 5 – WALKING FROM REDONDELA TO ARCADE – 7KMS
Today you have a short walking day ahead, from the market town of Redondela to the village Arcade, famous for its oysters.
DAY 6 – WALKING FROM ARCADE TO PONTEVEDRA – 11KMS
From Arcade to Pontevedra city you will take some lovely forest tracks and small country roads. Take time to explore the wonderful Old Town in Pontevedra, one of the prettiest in Galicia.
DAY 7 – WALKING FROM PONTEVEDRA TO SAN AMARO – 10KMS
From Pontevedra, you will walk to the hamlet of San Amaro where you will be picked up at the end of your walk.
DAY 8 – WALKING FROM SAN AMARO TO CALDAS DE REIS – 13KMS
In the morning, you will be taken back to San Amaro to continue your journey to the town of Caldas de Reis, which is famous for its thermal spring waters and spa.
DAY 9 – WALKING FROM CALDAS DE REIS TO AS CERNADAS/CASAL DE EIRIGO – 10KMS
Today you will leave Caldas de Reis and take trails along vineyards and little hamlets to As Cernadas/Casal de Eirigo where you will be picked up at the end of the day.
DAY 10 – WALKING FROM AS CERNADAS/CASAL DE EIRIGO TO PADRON – 8KMS
Today you have a short and easy walking day to Padron, the town that gives name to the green peppers. It is believed to be the place where the body of St James first landed.
DAY 11 – WALKING FROM PADRON TO RUA DE FRANCOS/TEO -15KMS
From Padron, you will continue your Camino journey along hamlets, small country roads and farmyards to the tiny village of Rua de Francos where you will be picked up.
DAY 12 – WALKING FROM RUA DE FRANCOS/TEO TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – 10KMS
This is your last walking day, only 10 more kilometres to go until you arrive in Santiago de Compostela. Get your Compostela Certificate at the Pilgrims Office and enjoy the feeling of achievement!
DAY 13 – EXPLORING SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
After your Camino walk, it is time to discover the wonderful city of Santiago de Compostela. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town can be easily explored on foot, enjoying its vibrant atmosphere. After a visit to the Cathedral and its treasures, head to the Abastos Market where you will find all the Galician delicacies on display from seafood and fish to cheeses, meats, vegetables and sweet treats. The market is the city’s second most visited attraction and there are lovely cafes and bars nearby, where you can enjoy a cafe con churros, a glass of wine or sit down for lunch.

DAY 14 – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA AIRPORT
Today it is time to say goodbye to Santiago de Compostela as your Camino adventure comes to an end… for now. Many pilgrims return to the Camino to experience different routes and walk various stages each year. Maybe you will be one of them!
