Our first port of call in Norway will be Kristiansand, Norway’s fifth-largest city on the south coast facing Denmark and surrounded by crystal blue water on three sides. Here you can explore the colourful central market, and admire the original wooden houses in the historic quarter Posebyen. Go to the Ravnedalen Valley Nature Park west of town for a quiet walk on paths lined with trees and cliffs, or head to the Kristiansand Waterfall — you can find wild salmon swimming in the waters here.

Next is the village of Skjolden, nestled between Norway’s highest mountain range, Jotunheimen National Park and two spectacular glaciers. Head to the Fjordstova cultural center, where you’ll find the tourist office, a cafe, a swimming pool and a climbing wall. Go hiking in Morkridsdalen, the valley north of the village. Admire one of the magnificent waterfalls in the area, such as Vetlefosso.

From Olden, you can explore Inner Nordfjord with a paddling trip that will bring you close enough to the Briksdal Glacier to touch it. The tourist train provides local information while it brings you up the mountain. Once you get there, you can hike to the glacier to see it up-close. If you’re more adventurous, try Via Ferrata Loen, a challenging tour that takes you to the mountain tops.

We will then set sail to picturesque Bruges, home to one of Europe’s best preserved medieval town and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site before heading back to Southampton.

DAY 1 – Southampton

A cruise out of Southampton unlocks all kinds of incredible destinations, from French and Spanish wine country to Norway’s majestic fjords. But this charming port is also a great destination in and of itself. Spend some time getting to know it before your vacation — you won’t be disappointed. If you have a soft spot for medieval history, you’ll find plenty of interesting sites here. Like Bargate, a gatehouse that dates back over a thousand years to Norman times. Or visit St. Michael’s church on Castle Way — built in the 11th century, it’s home to ancient Norman artifacts and relics. Then, fast forward a few centuries at the Tudor house in St. Michael’s Square, which served as the home of a wealthy merchant family in the 15th century. Today it’s a museum that showcases exhibits featuring nearly a thousand years of local history.
Your ship departs promptly at 5:00 pm, so plan to arrive at least 2-3 hours early to account for checking in and boarding protocols. During this time, many of the ship’s amenities are open and operating, so feel free to start your holiday early.

At Olden’s location at the northern end of Oldedalen Valley, you’ll find an unexpectedly dramatic landscape dotted with valleys, waterfalls and mountains. Explore the town by foot, boat or bike, and head into a gallery to discover why Olden is an emerging centre for contemporary design.

DAY 6 – DAY AT SEA

DAY 7 – Bruges/ Zeebrugge (Brussels), Belgium

Often called the Venice of the North, the capital of Belgium’s West Flanders province is lined with canals, bridges and historic buildings. One of Europe’s best-preserved mediaeval towns, Bruges’ historic town centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Belgium cruises give you access to the lively market square and you’ll see the Belfry of Bruges, a popular piece of Middle Ages architecture.

DAY 8 – Southampton, England

Depart back to Dublin from Southampton.
