Aegean Delights Cruise Itinerary
DAY 1 – Limassol, Cyprus
Set on Akrotiri Bay, Limassol is the island’s biggest seaside town with plenty to offer its visitors. Whether you’ve come here in search of age-old sights or bubbling bars, the town’s a mixed bag of delights that never fails to impress.
DAY 2 – At Sea
DAY 3 – Izmir, Turkey
One of Turkey’s biggest hubs, Izmir is your gateway to Ephesus, a 2,000-year-old Roman city. It was here that one of the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World once stood – the Temple of Artemis. In Izmir itself, you’ll find a smart seafront that’s lined with cafés and fish restaurants.
DAY 4 – Thira, Santorini
Prepare to fall head over heels for this sun-blushed beauty. Santorini is the very essence of Greek charm. Sugar-cube houses cling to the cliffs. Vivid blue church domes add a splash of colour. And steep cliff-sides tumble into an impossibly clear sea. Just beautiful. Lose your heart to Oia, one of the world’s most romantic destinations. Dripping in beauty with a pinch of cosmopolitan allure, the town’s steeped in history and, if legend is to be believed, haunted by vampires. Pamper yourself in the hot springs at Palea Kameni. Their waters have been warmed by volcanic activity and they’ll leave your skin silky smooth.
DAY 5 – Bodrum, Turkey
Bodrum is a bit like St-Tropez, only with belly dancers. Yachts slide into the town’s twin harbours, mooring in front of smart waterfront restaurants, and wood-decked beach clubs call out to the beautiful crowd. The scenery is postcard-pretty, too. Think whitewashed houses framed by bougainvillea, and olive-green hillsides that melt into the Aegean.
DAY 6 -Rhodes Town, Rhodes
Basking in more hours of sunshine than any other Greek island, Rhodes is loved for its fascinating past, not to mention its glittering sandy beaches.
Wander your way around the pretty village of Lindos. The architecture here is a fusion of Gothic, Byzantine, Greek and Middle Eastern, and the most famous monument is probably the ancient acropolis.
Spend some time getting to know Rhodes Town. Go yacht-spotting in Mandraki harbour and venture inside the ancient walls of the citadel to discover the Medieval city left behind by the Knights of St John.
DAY 7 – Alanya, Turkey
Legendary hangout of Queen Cleopatra, Alanya’s two-faced for all the right reasons. On the one hand an ancient Seljuk city, on the other a slick beach resort, it’s a place where old meets new and the pair get along famously. Walk around and you’ll notice a lot of places with Cleopatra in their names, even one of the beaches. It’s no coincidence. In 44BC, Mark Antony presented the town to his girlfriend as a present. And as gifts go, it takes some beating…
Make your way to the Manavgat Waterfalls, where the river water crashes over low rocks. With their mountain backdrop, these falls are certainly worth some space in your holiday album.
DAY 8 – Limassol, Cyprus
Once you leave the cruise ship, you will be picked up by coach and taken back to the airport.
