The small town of Stratford Upon Avon near Birmingham is the birthplace of the most important play wright in the English language: William Shakespeare.
The students will get to explore this picturesque Tudor market town and visit the Shakespearean Houses, including the home where he was born, the gardens at ‘New Place’, Hall’s Croft, Mary Arden’s Farm and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.
Once in London, students will get to learn further about Shakespeare’s career with a guided tour of the Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London, a loyal reconstruction of the 16th century Globe Theatre where Shakespeare wrote his famous plays.
While not strictly a Shakespearean activity, we have included a day of thrilling fun at Thorpe Park. More drama will be added to the tour with a workshop at The Clore Learning Centre or the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End.
There will be time also for a visit to the Tate Modern Gallery or, alternatively a guided visit of the Bank of England Museum; as well as an evening show at Her Majesty’s Theatre London or any of the other fantastic theatre venues in the city.
