The beautiful city of Krakow in Poland is the perfect place to learn about Europe’s modern history, particularly about the rise of fascism in the 1930s, the onset of the Second World War and the Holocaust. Our Krakow and Auschwitz history school trip will be an unforgettable learning experience for students.

On this fantastic school tour, students will take a guided tour of Krakow’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, visiting its most important landmarks such as Market Square and Florianska Gate while learning about the city’s rich history.

They will also admire the views from Wawel Castle and explore the city’s fashionable and cultured Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz District, where the vibrant Polish Jewish community lived until the Nazi invasion of Poland in the 1930s.

Students will get to walk the corridors of the Oskar Schindler’s Factory, which is part of the Historical Museum of Krakow. This former enamel factory and the story of how its owner businessman Oskar Schindler rescued over a thousand lives during World War II was made famous by Steven Spielberg’s award winning movie Schindler’s List. The Oscar-winning film, one of the best movies of all times, was mostly filmed in the Kazimierz district of Krakow.

Located approximately 35 kms outside Krakow, students will also learn about the horrors of the Nazi regime and the holocaust at the harrowing Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camp memorial and museum, which was the largest and one of the most infamous concentration camps during World War II. A synonym of the Holocaust, Auschwitz is a must-see for all future generations.

The Krakow and Auschwitz History school trip will also take the group to the stunningly unique Wieliczka salt mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978 with hundreds of kilometres of underground galleries with spectacular artwork, statues and even whole chapels sculpted in salt.

Please note this tour can be adapted to your school group’s needs, including additional nights and activities as required. A Krakow and Auschwitz history school trip can also be combined with outdoor and fun activities such as a day at the Park Wodny water park or a trip to Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains for sports training, hiking or skiing; depending on the season.
