Northern Lights and Iceland School Trip

  • From 1250 Per Person

The Northern Lights and Iceland school trip takes students to the land of fire and ice, to discover its geological gems and experience the phenomenal natural display that is the Northern Lights.

Darkness is an essential requirement in order to see the Northern Lights so the best time to travel to Iceland to witness this spectacular phenomenon is between September and March, when there are less hours of light.

We will kick off the Iceland School Trip with a tour to see this incredible natural wonder on the first evening, if the weather conditions are favourable.

Since it is quite difficult to predict; generally the Northern Lights might be predicted with two hours notice; this activity might take place on a different night.

The students will then travel to Iceland’s spectacular Golden Circle to admire its dramatic landscapes and learn about its unique geology at the Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss waterfall.

On a tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, an active volcanic system, students will get to enjoy a soak in the Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most iconic attractions. The students will admire extraordinary landscapes, volcanos, lava formations and bubbling pools in this part of the country.

The Iceland School Trip is complete with a sightseeing tour of its charming capital Reykjavik, ‘Smoky Bay’, and visit the fascinating Perlan Wonders of Iceland museum with its rotating dome and indoor ice cave.

Iceland is one of our all-time favourite destinations for Geology-inspired school tours and Science school trips.
