Western civilisation owes much of its Philosophy, Politics, Science, Art and even the origins of the Olympics to Ancient and Classical Greece, birthplace of democracy and the Latin alphabet.
The Ancient Greece School Trip starts in the capital, Athens, with a tour of this unique city, visiting the emblematic Acropolis with its museum, Propylaea gate, Erechtheion temple and the Parthenon dedicated to goddess Athena.
The students will also enjoy some free time to wander picturesque Plaka and explore the cobbled streets of this historic neighbourhood.
From Athens, the group will travel to Delphi to admire the ruins of the iconic Temple of Apollo and explore its phenomenal archaeological site, surrounded by stunning scenery. Next on the tour is the Olympia Archaeological Site, which give their name to the Olympic Games, as it was here where the first Greek Olympics were held in 776 BC to honour God Zeus, king of Gods.
The Ancient Greece School Trip then takes students to the town of Tolo, on the coast of the Peloponnese peninsula, where they will spend the last two nights. In this wonderful region, they will visit the Epidaurus ancient theatre and Mycenae, one of the greatest cities of the Mycenaean civilisation.
They will say farewell to Greece and its fascinating history and landscapes with a swim in Tolo Beach, weather permitting.
