On our Christmas Markets in Germany 2025 tour you will get a chance to explore these beautiful cities, transformed into a winter wonderland and home to some of the most traditional and oldest Christmas Markets in the country.

We will have time to discover the city’s history, culture and art; admire the handmade crafts and Christmas decorations; sample local seasonal foods and hot beverages; and have a great time selecting the perfect Christmas gifts for your loved ones.

We will start this festive tour wandering Dusseldorf’s charming Christmas Markets and we will be staying in Cologne, home to the spectacular Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market, Weihnachtsmarkt am Dom.

‘The House Elves’ Winter Fairytale Christmas Market, Heinzels WinterMarchen, is another favourite and dedicated to the house elves, Heinelmännchen, who take care of housework while we sleep, according to a local legend!

Bonn and Koblenz can easily be reached by train from Cologne, if you wish to explore further afield and visit their Christmas Markets.

Itinerary

  • Return flights from Dublin
  • Airport transfer from Dusseldorf Airport to Cologne Hotel including visit to Dusseldorf Christmas market
  • 3 night stay in 4* Pullman Hotel Cologne with breakfast included each morning
  • 2 hour guided walking tour of Cologne
  • Airport transfer from Cologne Hotel to Dusseldorf airport

DAY 1 – DUBLIN TO DUSSELDORF

Check in at 5:10am from Dublin Airport Terminal 2 for our morning flight to Dusseldorf at 7:10am. We will be landing in Dusseldorf at 10am approximately.

We will visit the fantastic Christmas Market in Dusseldorf and then travel to Cologne and check in at the hotel.

DAY 2 – COLOGNE

In the morning, the group will enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of Cologne, followed by free time in the afternoon to explore the city's traditional Christmas Markets.

DAY 3 – COLOGNE

With ten markets to explore including the Cologne Cathedral Christmas Market, Heinzels Wintermärchen at Heumarkt, Nicholas’ Village Christmas Market and the Harbour Christmas Market you might find that you’re happy to stay in Cologne for the rest of the trip. However, if you would like to explore further afield, Bonn also has a beautiful Christmas market in its town centre. The train from Cologne to Bonn takes as little as 20 minutes and costs less than €10 each way. Koblenz also has some very nice markets, and is a little further away, taking around 1 hour 20 by train and costing around €13 each way.

DAY 4 – COLOGNE TO DUBLIN

In the morning, we will have free time to explore Cologne city further in the afternoon. The group will travel back to Dusseldorf Airport around 16:45 for our flight back to Dublin at 20:30.
