The Florence and Tuscany School Trip takes students to the birthplace of the Renaissance cultural movement and one of the most picturesque and regions in Europe.

A sightseeing tour of Florence, Firenze in Italian, will introduce students to the architecture, history and culture of this extraordinary city, one of the first UNESCO World Heritage sites in Italy and without a doubt one of the most visited.

Exploring Florence, students will immerse themselves in centuries of art: from the iconic Duomo Cathedral which took nearly 150 years to complete to the craft shops of Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery, home to the world’s greatest collection of Renaissance artwork, including Botticelli’s ‘The Birth of Venus’.

They will also travel across the picturesque Tuscan countryside to visit the pretty hilltop town of San Miniato, renown for its white truffles. The students will also have a day to explore the walled city of Lucca with its pretty cobbled streets and visit the famous ‘leaning’ tower of Pisa and its cathedral.

FLORENCE AND TUSCANY SCHOOL TRIP ITINERARY

DAY 1 – SIGHTSEEING IN FLORENCE

After arriving in Florence, the school trip kick starts with a sightseeing tour of the city, taking in all its main attractions such as the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and its wonderful piazzas.

We have included some free time after the tour, to explore at your own pace before visiting the famous Uffizi Gallery, home to the best collection of Renaissance art in the world, including some of Boticelli’s masterpieces.

DAY 2 – SAN MINIATO AND TUSCAN COUNTRYSIDE

The first stop on this trip across Tuscany is the historic hilltop town of San Miniato, halfway between Florence and Pisa.

From the Federico II tower at the top of this lovely little medieval town the students will enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside, its lush hills and vineyards.

DAY 3 – EXPLORING LUCCA

Next on the Florence and Tuscany School trip is the charming city of Lucca, birthplace of Opera composer Puccini. It is a wonderful walled city with a labyrinth of cobbled streets and piazzas perfect to explore on foot.

The Renaissance city walls are a popular spot for walking and cycling for locals and visitors.

DAY 4 – PISA

On their last day, the students will visit Pisa Cathedral and the famous ‘leaning’ tower before travelling back to the airport for their flight home.
